Nancy Graham
Nancy Graham is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Ryerson University). She is currently working towards her Certificate in Public Health Emergency Management. Nancy has worked as an Operating Room nurse at St. Joseph’s Health Science Centre (Toronto), Ottawa Health Sciences Centre and as a community nurse with the Victorian Order of Nurses (Toronto). At Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Nancy has worked as an Acute Care Resources Team nurse. She is currently working for the City of Toronto as a Public Health nurse specializing in injury prevention, substance misuse and harm reduction plus parenting programs.
In 2006 Nancy completed a six month mission with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF) in Sierra Leone (West Africa). She collaborated with six other international MSF staff and 45 local Sierra Leone MSF workers to deliver primary health care in a remote rural area.
Nancy returned (June 2010) from Sri Lanka where she worked five months for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF) as a Technical Advisor – Surgical Nursing. The role involved implementing an orthopaedic surgery program at a regional hospital in the north to benefit internally displaced people with upper and lower limb injuries.
In 2012 she worked for six months (again!) with MSF as the Outreach Team Leader supporting 17 National staff providing programs and services to communities including IDP camps within a 60 KM radius of the MSF supported Hospital in a remote rural area of South Sudan.
In 2013 Nancy worked one month as an Operating Rooms Supervisor, at the MSF Ramtha Hospital Project, in Jordan for the benefit of Syrian war-wounded.
Nancy is the Regional Coordinator (Ontario) with the MSF Canada Association and advocates about populations in distress through speaking and fundraising engagements. She was a keynote speaker for a recent annual meeting of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario. In 2011 Nancy was a recipient of a Toast Masters Club – Public Speakers Award.
