Eric Vandewall
Eric Vandewall has served as President & CEO of Joseph Brant Hospital since June
2009. Mr. Vandewall stepped into this position at a critical time for the organization.
JBH’s bold transformational agenda includes its ambitious $300 million plus
redevelopment and expansion project, a new strategic plan, and an ongoing focus to
continue to improve quality care, safe care, and service excellence throughout the
hospital.
Under Mr. Vandewall’s leadership several major accomplishments have been achieved.
Of most importance, the hospital has been able to achieve a balanced budget for the
past three years after being in a deficit position for the prior two years. As well, JBH has
amongst the lowest C Difficile rates in Ontario, reduced admission wait times by 30%,
and implemented service excellence training for all physicians and staff.
Prior to coming to Joseph Brant Hospital, Mr. Vandewall was at the Trillium Health
Centre, a multi-site facility serving the Mississauga and Etobicoke area where he had
worked for eight years. He was the senior vice president and assumed the acting CEO’s
position for a short period of time. He has also served with the Ontario Ministry of Health
and Long-Term Care as Director of the health reform implementation team and has
worked in the private sector with GlaxoSmithKline.
Mr. Vandewall is a graduate of Queen’s University and holds a master’s degree in
public administration/health policy. Eric is the father of three boys and he and his wife
Liz reside in Burlington.
