Dr. Michael Reid is an Associate Professor in the teaching stream at the University of Toronto. He teaches one of the largest astronomy classes in the world, which serves 1500 non-science majors each semester. He is also Public Outreach Coordinator for the Dunlap Institute, in which capacity he organizes astronomy events and serves as an astronomy interpreter for the media. He received his PhD from McMaster University in 2005 and worked for the Harvard-Smithsonian Submillimeter Array observatory in Hawaii, then briefly returned to McMater before taking up a faculty position at the University of Toronto.
