Dr. Laura Parker
Department of Physics & Astronomy. McMaster University
I am an observational astronomer at McMaster University. My research group is interested in questions related to galaxy evolution and observational cosmology. In particular we want to understand why galaxies have the properties we observe over cosmic time. We’re also very interested in understanding the connection between galaxy properties and the properties of the environments in which we find them, including the relationship between galaxies and their host dark matter halos.
I completed my PhD in Physics at the University of Waterloo in 2005 and I was then a postdoctoral fellow at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Munich before returning to Canada in 2007 to join the faculty at McMaster.
